I did it! and I'll do it again

I finished my first Triathlon yesterday! It was awesome. I've had so much fun training for it over the summer. I will be doing another one soon. The only bad thing about yesterday's triathlon was that we weren't able to do the swim portion in the lake. The lake was recently, as in Thursday, shut down. No one allowed in the lake because of round worm, GROSS!! No thanks, I think everyone was fine not swimming in the contaminated water. The solution was all the athletes swam 75m in the small community pool. The original distance was 750m which I was totally ready for, and was my strong leg of the race. But oh well I had so much fun. Because of the swim change we had to run an extra 1.5 miles. So many people from our neighborhood were in the race. it was fun to see everyone and cheer them on. Amy did a relay with some friends, next time she is doing the whole thing. (she did the swimming portion so she was really really quick for her portion:)
My time was 1:41:02 which I am totally happy with for my first tri. I'm doing another mini one next month!

Amy and I getting ready for the mini mini swim

T1 (transition 1)

The extra 1.5 miles

Here I go for the 14 mile bike ride

It was fun! I got up to 36 mph on the downhill!

now for the 5k run around the contaminated lake

I finished!!

My coach Will! I didn't get a picture of my other coach Brian

Sprint distance and yep I'm 28 (everyone at church saw this today, permanent marker doesn't come off, imagine that)

Amy has more defined muscles than I do, but I did the whole thing, ha

Look at you!!! Great job! I wish I could do a triathlon...but I'm the worst swimmer ever. I would definitely drown. Isn't that so pathetic? I finally started running again though, now that I'm done with school...and I'm going to do a half marathon to start. Maybe some day I will do the whole thing...ha. You seriously look great!! Kiss Will for me, and tell Brian we all say hello. Miss you guys!

p.s. I think your muscles look pretty intimidating!

Yeah for Clara!! I am so proud of you, that is such an accomplishment, doesn't it feel great!!!?? You look so good, keep us posted on the next one. You rock girl. Oh and I have found the marker does come off if you use soap and a washcloth. j/k, but it really does.

I have been so ashamed at my lack of blogging that I felt like I didn't deserve to check other peoples blogs until I caught up. So I am just getting to this now. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are a rockstar. You are amazing. And awesome. :)
